Finningham war memorial after grant works © Finningham Parish Council 2014Finningham war memorial is located in St Bartholomew's Churchyard and takes the form of a Saxon cross. The memorial is composed of a stepped base, plinth, octagonal shaft and Saxon cross. The inscriptions are painted on a marble plaque which is fixed on the front of the plinth and incised in the stone. The memorial is dedicated to the men of Finningham who fell in the First and Second World Wars. The memorial is in a conservation area.

In 2014, War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £520 towards cleaning the memorial and restoring the lettering. The incised inscription in the stone had become difficult to read, and steam cleaning was undertaken to ensure the lettering was legible. Legibility of the painted inscriptions was improved by the removal of defective paint from the lead and re-painting the lettering using oil based paint to match the original.
