This war memorial consist of a wheel cross with a stone sword of sacrifice carved onto the shaft, both surmounting a square plinth and base. There is a dedicatory inscription on the base, carved in relief on the front and in lead lettering on the rear, both in memory of the men of Church Langton who lost their lives in World War I. The memorial is located on the village green of Church Langton, Market Harborough. The memorial is constructed of grey limestone.
In 2013 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £387 towards conservation works to the memorial. This involved cleaning using hand held water sprayer and a horse hair brush. This was repeated 3 times to provide more effective results.
Once cleaning had been completed 12 of the letters needed reworking; 3 on the front inscription and 9 on the rear. The letters on the rear are in relief so were mortar repaired up to the original height using a lime mortar then re-carved to original style. The letters on the front are of lead in dent. Three of the letters had fallen out due to erosion of the surrounding stone so a mortar repair was done to create a re-carving of the letters to the original style and font so the full inscription can still be read. Re-pointing was carried out to the top stone (the cross) as had a slight wobble. A mortar repair was also done around the base of the top cross stone and on part of the raised sword as this had a small piece missing due to erosion.
The memorial was erected in 1921.
