Forthcoming events

War Memorials Online workshops in 2017

War Memorials Trust staff will be running three workshops in 2017 around War Memorials Online, www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk. These are designed for members of the public as an introduction to War Memorials Online, identifying the condition of war memorials and undertaking condition surveys. The workshops would be of interest to anybody interested in recording, protecting and conserving their local war memorials.

Agenda/Workshop Content

Each workshop will cover the same issues along the following lines:

  1. Introduction: Introduction to War Memorials Trust, War Memorials Online and identifying the condition of war memorials. Where relevant there will also be an introduction to the partner organisation.
  2. PC session 1: Registering, exploring and searching War Memorials Online
  3. Site visit: Each workshop will include a site visit to a local war memorial where attendees will be able to put their skills into practice
  4. PC session 2: Adding a condition survey to War Memorials Online
  5. ‘What happens next?’: How the Trust deals with condition reports submitted online and information about the Trust’s grant schemes
  6. Final question and answer session



Length of workshop

Workshops will run from 10am until 4pm, with a lunchbreak.



  • 22nd June or 23rd June 2017: Brecon

  • 30th August 2017: Edinburgh

Location: Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue, 16 St Mary’s Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1SU

There is no charge for the event but a place must be booked as there is limited space.

To book a place

Those who successfully book a place will be advised and a waiting list created for those who are unsuccessful. We may limit places to two per organisation to enable as many different people and organisations as possible to attend but this will be judged as we receive bookings.
