The emblem depicts a statue of a soldier in the uniform of the First World War, resting on his arms reversed in an attitude of mourning. The gold of the protecting hands, signifies the priceless lives lost in battle, while the red of the berries in the surrounding wreath of living laurel represents the blood sacrificed for future generations, who are symbolised by the green of the leaves
