War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme run by War Memorials Trust

War Memorials Trust has identified, with Cadw, a mechanism to enable War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme to offer additional funding on top of the 70% available through Cadw’s scheme.

  • eligible projects for additional support from War Memorials Trust can be forwarded to the charity by Cadw if you tick Q18 on the Cadw Application Form
  • projects eligible for a ‘top-up’ grant from War Memorials Trust will need to have a total project cost greater than £1,000 (including VAT if it is not reclaimable)
  • grant from War Memorials Trust is likely to be around 15% of project cost but it can be more for larger projects. If you have a project which is likely to cost more than £10,000 please contact War Memorials Trust directly to discuss additional funding
  • no project can receive 100% of its total project cost from Cadw and War Memorials Trust combined as the charity believes it is important that local projects have some local funding contributed to retain a sense of local ownership, responsibility and engagement

How to apply?

  • If you would like to get advice on the type of works needed, or particularly if your project is likely to be more than £10,000 in cost you are encouraged to contact War Memorials Trust and complete a Grants Pre-application form. This will allow the charity to review your proposals, provide advice and ensure you understand all the requirements to make an application that is eligible for support
  • Alternatively, you can go to the Cadw website to find out more about the Cadw scheme and download an Application Form and Guidance Notes to start your application

It would be beneficial when making conservation or grant enquiries to both War Memorials Trust and Cadw if you ensure that the war memorial you wish to discuss has been added to War Memorials Online.  By ensuring information, photographs and condition information are available on this website you will help both organisations to deal with your enquiry more efficiently. For help finding your memorial, or adding details to War Memorials Online, please refer to the advice on the website or contact info@warmemorialsonline.org.uk or 020 7233 7356.
