Maidford cross © Maidford Parish Council, 2008This war memorial was originally a Hornton stone cross but around ten years ago, the cross collapsed and was replaced in wood. The original base remained in place but then became damaged as well with extensive cracks.

The memorial is located outside St Peter and St Paul's Church in Maidford, Northamptonshire.

A grant of £2,307 was given to replace the cross to its original design and in Hornton stone.

The original memorial was erected in 1920 and was paid for by public subscription. When the plinth became cracked the inscriptions from the original memorial were copied onto a new plaque inside the church. The same words are now on the new plinth.

The inscription reads:Maidford cross © Maidford Parish Council, 2008
