Langleybury war memorial cross before work © D Armstrong 2004A First World War battlefield cross in memory of Captain R P Lloyd MC is on display at Langlebury Church in Hunton Bridge near Watford. It was found in the churchyard in a damaged condition and rescued by one of the Trust's Regional Volunteers. Through his efforts family members were traced and a project to restore the cross undertaken.

In 2005 War Memorials Trust gave £250 towards the restoration of the cross including treatment for insect infestation. 

The inscription reads

Capt R. P. Loyd M.C.
3rd Bn Coldstream Guards
Killed in action 1-12-17

Captain Reginald Percy Loyd died on 1st December 1917 aged 22 whilst serving with the 3rd Bn Coldstream Guards. He was the son of Mr Edward Henry and the Hon Mrs Loyd and was educated at Eton. He was killed in action at Gonnelieu and is buried in Metz-en-Couture Communal Cemetery British Extension, Pas de Calais, France
