War Memorials Trust contributed £1,500 towards the repair and restoration of the Treharris war memorial clock.
The war memorial clock was installed by John Smith and Sons of Derby in 1933. Its original movement was replaced in 1989 and a further conservation project was undertaken in 2006 in part because of problems with vandalism and a vehicle stricking the drum.
The clock was removed from its position for restoration to take place. The clock was dismantled and cleaned and repairs made to reinstate the memorial to its original finish. This included the use of 23.5 carat double thickness gold leaf on the dials, corner details and coach lines.
Associated with the clock are two war memorial plaques.
The first reads:
This clock is erected in memory of the men and women of this ward who served and fell for the cause of humanity in the Great War 1914-1918
The second reads:
This stone is erected in memory of the men and women of this ward who served and fell for the cause of humanity in the 1939 - 1945 World War.
