Harray obelisk © Harray and Sandwick Community Council, 2009This war memorial is made from pink granite and is in the form of an obelisk with an urn on top. The inscriptions are cut into the granite and painted black.

It is located in St Michael’s kirkyard (churchyard) in Harray, Orkney Islands.

A grant of £169 was given to repaint the inscriptions which had lost nearly all their paint and were difficult to read.

It is not known exactly when the memorial was erected but it is thought to date from shortly after World War I.

The memorial is dedicated to those who fell in World War I and II.
