Brimscombe war memorial before works © WMT, 2008This war memorial is made from limestone and is in the form of an octagonal obelisk on a stepped base. There is a ball and cross at the top. Names are cut into the plinth and on an additional block at the front and filled in with black paint. It is located on a steep bank on the corner of Brimscombe Lane and A419, in the village of Brimscombe, near Stroud in Gloucestershire.

It was probably erected in the 1920s but the landscape has changed as there was a major road alteration in 1972. The upper level of the grassy bank was paved around the memorial and there were large fir trees. When they had first been planted, it was not realised how large they would grow. The roots of the trees were growing under the paving and the memorial, destabilising them and making it dangerous for people to stand around the area.

War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,132 to cut the trees and remove the root bowls. The paving was then re-laid and work was also done to the steps.

The war memorial is dedicated to the men of Thrupp and Brimscombe from World War I and World War II.
