The memorial in the village of Dun, near the coast in Angus, consists of a black granite block with a scene in relief, on a rough marble block inscribed on the polished front with black lettering, which stands on a plinth and a base. The black granite block is sculpted with a picture of a kilted soldier with a staff standing at the beginning of a long road which leads to a sinking sun. Above the sun on a hill is an illuminated cross, and at the bottom left hand side of the scene are the words To the Glory of God. The memorial is in the village churchyard.
In October 2000 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £150 towards the commissioning of this new war memorial. This was being done as a millennium project; Dun was the only village in Angus not to have a war memorial, although there was a plaque inside the church.
The inscription on the front of the memorial reads

The memorial was dedicated on 11th November 2000 in front of a crowd of 100. It was unveiled by Mrs Gladys Sherrit from nearby Arbroath whose father William Mair, and uncle, George Mair, are commemorated on the memorial.
