St Nicholas Church WWI Bells, Hornsea before works (c) WMT, 2016St Nicholas Church WWI Bells, Hornsea war memorial is located at St Nicholas Church, Newbegin, Hornsea. This memorial is a peal of eight bells rung with a clavier (keyboard) with chimes for the clock. The inscription on a stone plaque within the church tower commemorates those who died in World War I. The memorial is part of the Grade I listed church and within the Hornsea Town Conservation Area.

In 2016 a grant of £8,530 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards repair of the bell frame, wires, transmission bars, clappers and clavier.

St Nicholas Church WWI Bells cSt Nicholas Parochial Church Council, 2015Five new bells and three old bells were recast at a cost of £800 in 1919. The bells were rededicated by the Right Reverend Francis Gurdon, Suffragen Bishop of Hull on 8th December 1919. Further funding of £250 was raised later for the mechanism and clock faces to be installed in 1921. The bells were provided by John Taylor & Co bell founders.
