In Memoriam 2014

In Memoriam 2014 logoOn this page you will find details of news releases about In Memoriam 2014, cases which may be of interest, details of who to contact about the In Memoriam 2014 project, war memorials and/or SmartWater and links to In Memoriam 2014 social media.

Please note In Memoriam 2014 does not release details of which specific war memorials have been marked or how many, either nationally or in specific parts of the country. In revealing such information we may put at risk those memorials not yet marked. Instead, we believe it is vital that we work, building on the wonderful support received to date from the media, on spreading the word that memorials are being protected. This will help ensure that those contemplating the theft of our war memorial heritage recognise it is not worth the risk as our war memorials are protected, not just through In Memoriam 2014 but by the vigilance and care of people in whose local communities our war memorials stand.

However, below are some cases in which the media or others have highlighted In Memoriam 2014 so the marking of specific memorials is already in the public domain and we are able to share these details.

The most high profile marking of a memorial as part of In Memoriam 2014 was undertaken by War Memorials Trust's Patron HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in June. Details were published in our Bulletin and photographs are available.

In Memoriam 2014 case studies

Some examples are provided of war memorials which have been marked either through action by local communities, volunteers, War Memorials Officers, councils or as part of a grant application to War Memorials Trust. Also, examples of where local communities have got behind the promotion of the project and added local voices to the national call to action. This is not a comprehensive record but an indication of the interest to date.

In Memoriam 2014 has received political support. Some of those messages can be read on the In Memoriam 2014 website and were published in War Memorials Trust's Bulletin.
