War Memorials Trust held or attended a number of events in 2016-17. Details can be found below:
WMT AGM: 14th November 2016
War Memorials Trust AGM will take place on Monday 14th November.
The meeting will be held at 2.30pm at St James the Less, Thorndike Street, London SW1V 2PS. Thorndike Street is off Moreton Street, which is off Vauxhall Bridge Road.
After the AGM, there will be a talk by the award-winning writer and journalist Clive Aslet on ‘The Meaning of War Memorials’, looking at the different forms they take and how each community chose their unique way of expressing grief and remembering the fallen. Clive’s book ‘War Memorial’ follows the stories of those commemorated on the Lydford war memorial in Dartmoor, Devon. Using original documents, he traced the lives of the 22 men and 1 woman recorded on the memorial who fell in World War I, World War II, the Falklands and Iraq. After his presentation Clive will take questions and refreshments will be served. The event is scheduled to finish by 4.30pm.
Members have received their formal invitations through the Bulletin. Attendees are asked to bring the formal invitation with them to gain admittance to the event. If you have not receive this then please contact us on the details below.
