This fascinating talk covered the establishment of the Imperial War Graves Commission (now the Commonwealth War Graves Commission) and explored the work of some of the most significant war memorial architects, including Sir Edwin Lutyens, Sir Herbert Baker, Sir Robert Lormier and Sir Reginald Blomfield.

The event was held at the Newarke Houses Museum in Leicester in order to give our supporters in Leicestershire and the surrounding counties an opportunity to hear this interesting talk. Attendees were also able to have an ‘after-hours’ stroll around the museum taking in the ‘Leicester at war’ exhibition, the Tudor panelled room and the recreation of the 1950s Wharf Street including the Jolly Angler pub, greengrocer and pawnbroker.
