War Memorials Trust

Step 4: Claiming your grant

To claim your grant you need to return your Completion Report a copy of which was part of your Grant Offer pack. If you have mislaid this or want to request an electronic version please contact us.

What you must provide in your Completion Report

  • fill in the Contractors' details
  • complete the Completion statement providing information on the works carried out. This should be detailed and include all methods and materials used. This should have been in-line with the Method Statement in your Contract, if any alterations were undertaken without approval from WMT you will need to detail these here, why they were needed as well as supporting photographs.
  • provide details of any Local feedback for example comments from member of the community, local press coverage
  • submit photographs showing the whole memorial and close-ups of the works undertaken (similar to those supplied with your application)
  • include a copy of the invoice for the works from your Contractor(s)

What WMT will do

Once we have received all the information required to assess your Completion Report we will aim within two weeks to either:

  • review the information and if everything is in order to make payment
  • review the information and request further details if anything is unclear
  • review the information and advise you of why we cannot make payment

If you do not supply all the required information or have undertaken additional works then it may take significantly longer to process your grant claim.

It is important to note that the Trust pays grants on the completion of works and after the submission of a satisfactory Completion Report. Therefore you should allow for the fact that you will probably have to pay the Contractor’s invoice before you receive your funding unless you have raised this with WMT at the start of your project to arrange staged payments.
