Cadw grants
In Wales grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from Cadw, the historic environment service of the Welsh Assembly Government. There is no specialist war memorial scheme but projects may be assisted thorugh one of the schemes discussed below. Obtaining a grant from one of these schemes could be part of your match funding for a Small Grants Scheme award.

Historic Buildings and Conservation Area grants
Cadw is able to fund the repair and restoration of a war memorial if it is judged to be of 'outstanding' architectural or historic interest. Cadw may also fund repairs to war memorials in conservation areas if the works to the memorial will signficantly enhance the conservation area in which it is located.
Work funded under either of these schemes might include the repair and specialist conservation of memorials and typical grant rates are 25% - 30% of eligible work costs.
Civic Initiative grants
Some works to war memorials might be eligible for a grant under Cadw's Civic Initiatives (Heritage) Grant scheme. The scheme assists organsiations such as local civic and voluntary groups with projects which promote and enhance an understanding and appreciation of the built heritage. The maximum grant awarded under this scheme is £5,000 at 50% eligible costs; match funding must be found from non-public sources.
